About the book
What exactly is it?
10,000 Whys is a hardcover children's encyclopedia organised around questions rather than subjects. Instead of a chapter called "Astronomy", you get "Why doesn't the moon fall out of the sky?" — answered in language written for the child asking it, not for the adult buying it.
What age is it for?
Ages 6–12 is the sweet spot. Confident readers at the younger end will get on with it alone; around 6–7 it works best read together. Older children tend to keep it around longer than you'd expect, because the answers don't talk down to them.
What's inside?
Twelve areas: space and the universe, dinosaurs, the human body, oceans and sea life, weather and nature, history and civilisations, animals and wildlife, science and physics, plants and biology, the brain and mind, technology and inventions, and Earth and geography.
Is this a textbook?
No, and it isn't trying to be. There are no exercises, no tests and no curriculum to work through. It's built to be picked up voluntarily and put down whenever. That's the entire design goal.
Will my child actually read it?
We can't promise that, and anyone who does is guessing. What we can tell you is what it's designed for: a child who has already asked you something you couldn't answer. If that's happening in your house, this is built for that moment. If it isn't, the guarantee covers you.
Does it replace screen time?
It competes for the same attention, which is the more honest way to put it. Plenty of parents simply leave it somewhere visible and say nothing at all. We'd suggest the same — it works better found than assigned.
Is it a good gift?

How long does delivery take?
Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days. UK delivery typically takes 4–8 business days from dispatch, tracked the whole way.
What does shipping cost?
Shipping is free on every UK order, with no minimum spend.
Do you ship outside the UK?
We currently ship to the United States and Canada. Delivery typically takes 8–14 business days, tracked.
Can I track my order?
Yes — every order is tracked. You'll receive a tracking number by email, and you can follow your delivery on the Track My Order page at any time.
My order hasn't arrived. What now?
If it's outside the expected window, email us. We'll chase it with the carrier or make it right — you won't be asked to wait it out indefinitely.
Returns & Guarantee
How does the guarantee work?
Keep the book for up to 60 nights. If your child doesn't take to it, email us and tell us it wasn't for you — that's all the explanation we need — and we'll refund you in full. No return shipping required.
What if it arrives damaged?
Email us a photo and we'll send a replacement straight away. No return needed.
Does the guarantee cover bundles?
Yes. If the household verdict is no, the whole order is refunded. The guarantee applies to first-time purchases and covers up to one refund per household.
